{Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real}

~ Capturing the context of everyday life ~

{pretty}
Pretty belly sticker art.  That was a good three minutes of entertainment, right there.

{happy}
I slept in this morning.  I shoved the WeatherMan out of bed The WeatherMan got up with the boys and  I got to stay in bed till 8:30.  Now he's napping on the couch and I'm drinking blueberry juice "because there's no better juice you can drink with a moose."  (That's a line from a favorite book of ours, I Met a Moose In Maine One Day.  And it's not really blueberry juice, it's a green smoothie that takes it's color from berries so the boys call it blueberry juice and they love it.)  Mama is pretty well rested, the boys are playing quiet-ish, and we've all had some good fruits and veggies for breakfast (or snack for those of us up since 6, which is not me ;-) Makes for one happy Mama.

{funny}
Yesterday I posted on FaceBook about Bigger's latest word - edible.  He was telling Littler "it's edible, that means you can eat it" in reference to the little bruise on his banana.  Littler wouldn't eat it and Mama did cut it off for him.  Now, I had no idea what a strong response this would get.  I had no idea how many of my friends were passionately against the eating of banana bruises.  I told it as a funny story about a big word for a 4 year old.  I still think it's funny.  And I don't really see anything wrong with encouraging the boys to eat the imperfections on fruit.  Or eating around it if they don't want to.  Either way, not a big deal.  Am I alone on this one?

{real}
The boys wanted their own tools.  So Daddy got them a tool kit from the dollar store.  They love it.  And have already broken two of the toys.  Oh well, they're still happy as clams.

We eat the whole banana - imperfections and all. You are not alone! In fact, my younger kids are convinced that the bruises are little pockets of concentrated "sugar". I'm honestly not sure if I made that up at some point to get them to eat the whole thing - or if it was an idea of their own.

funny about the bananas;) I just can't eat the bruises... I stick the chopped off piece in the freezer for banana bread;)

BTW... that's a great word;) And love the stickers;)

Huh? What's wrong with eating the bruises? It's great they'll eat them! Mine won't, and I find it rather annoying ~ especially when they're tiny little bruises! Pockets of concentrated sugar....I'll have to try that on them. They love sugar.

Thanks for joining! The word "bruise" is so terrible :) They really are spots of more concentrated sugar... no reason not to eat them unless they are just too mushy, I guess! Good for him to learn that word!
