Yarn Along

Another week, another post with the same book and same project.  So it goes.  At least its a good book and a good project :)  Check out Ginny at small things for more inspiration.

I, of course, am loving this BSJ.  After solving the hole in the sleeve issue it has been pretty smooth knitting.  And to be honest I am incredibly proud of myself for being able to take out the problem rows and catch all the stitches so I didn't have to rip the whole thing out and start over.

The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers is enjoyable.  I think at least some of it falls into the "well, duh" category but sometimes we just need a little reminder.  She uses lots of illustrations of moms who have changed their thinking or behavior and how that has improved their lives and their family life.  I also like that she gives concrete steps at the end of each chapter to help readers make the changes they need to be happier mamas.

Next up, I have a couple books waiting for me at the library.  And I want to see if I can find a copy of Boys Should Be Boys while we're there.  Anyone have an opinion on buying The Help ?  I am #244 in line for it from the library!  I'm not sure I want to spend the money but I would also like to read it sometime in this lifetime.  Knitting-wise I'll probably start the second half of my mom's retirement gift.  Either that or the start of the boys' Christmas gift.  Or maybe a sweater-like something for me with some pretty lavender yarn I was given.  Oh, the endless possibilities :)

I hate taking out a row of stitches--it is easy to drop a stitch. Kudos on fixing your hole!

The book sounds interesting--perhaps one that I can recommend to the young moms in our MOPS group.

Are you really number 244 in line? If so, that is hilarious. :) So glad the BSJ is working out for you!

What a sweet BSJ! Your colors are so pretty! I've made bright, stripey ones for babies so your dear pastel is so nice to see.

Your book looks like a lovely read.

Your BS jacket is coming along nicely. I read The Help as a kindle book. I hope you can get your hands on a copy some how. The book you are reading sounds very positive. Jacinta

everyone who has read the help seems to have loved it. it is next on my list, my sister sent it to me when it first came out! lol...it has evidently taken me awhile to get to it. maybe check a used bookstore if you have one locally. congrats on not having to rip the whole project out, that is a huge accomplishment!

Good save on the BSJ! Look so cute!
Hmm...as for your question about The Help I'd say it depends if you're a book buyer or not. I'm usually a library gal (unless I find it used) but my mom bought my copy for me as a gift...I don't think I really needed my own copy but I'll probably end up lending it to friends.

Kate, I have The Help. Will borrowing it from me be quicker than #244 on the library list? Too bad I didn't know when you were home in August.

Thanks Joanne! Jean also offered the loan of her copy so I'll let you know :) I'm up to #234 (on 28 copies!)
