Yarn Along

Joining Ginny :)  Happy Wednesday!

Since there isn't much knitting to show off here is a sleeping baby :)  I have been getting bits done here and there but not as much as I hope (as if I ever manage to do as much as I hope!)  And, as you can see, the boys got a hold of my yarn.  I don't think it's tangled.  I really hope it's not, I'm not sure I could handle that set back in my cranky, teething baby exhaustion.  (Yes, she's 2.5 months and teething.  Anyone have any experience with amber teething necklaces?)

I'm not making huge strides in my reading but I'm really enjoying my books.  March is excellent - it's really interesting to "get to know" the March family a little better.  Mother Teresa is likewise fascinating - although I will admit that is what I'm making the least progress in.  I also started another book.  Bringing Up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman is about French parenting.  She describes it as "investigative parenting" and asks why French kids don't throw food.  I can't wait to see what she finds out.

And I have to share the books I'm reading with the boys because I know fellow Yarn Alongers would totally appreciate them.  Red Berry Wool by Robyn Eversole has beautiful illustrations (painted by Tim Coffey) and the sweet story of a lamb who wants to be a red sweater.  Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep by Teri Sloat is subtitled "a yarn about wool."  :)  It's hilarious and a good description of making yarn.  And I now have my very own copy (for the boys, of course) thanks to PaperBackSwap

Poor wee one to be cutting teeth so early. I don't know anything about amber necklaces, but I do see them around a lot so that must say something.
The children's books so great.

I hope your yarn is not tangled as well! My son teethed very early (3 months?)All I remember is weaning him by five months because it was "painful" to nurse him :)

I could look at pictures of your sleeping baby every day! Too bad about the yarn; I hope it's not too much of a mess…

Julia was an early teether as well, and it was awful but the positive thing was that she was finished teething early! We used amber teething necklaces, and I honestly can't say how they worked - I *thought* it worked wonderfully with Julia but then Asher was horrible, teething for months and months and getting teeth one at a slow, painful time, and was constantly cranky. So I don't know whether one would have been easy & the other awful, even without the necklaces, or whether they both would have been worse. But it's worth a try, I think. xo

My little one has been teething for awhile now and thankfully her first two just popped through. Hope your baby gets some relief soon. The children's books sound fun! I'll have to check them out.

Yay for baby shots! I hope the teething is not so painful for the baby.

A sleeping baby is probably even better than a knitting project, right?
We used an amber necklace - it is hard to say what difference it made, but I definitely won't do any harm!

Oh my, I would hold a baby over knitting, how adorable! I had a friend who used the necklace but her daughter was about 9 mos? Not sure about using it that little.

It's funny -- I JUST recommended March in my comments to another knitter in the Yarn Along and then came to your blog and it's what you're reading! I really enjoyed that book (and others by Brooks as well). Glad I stopped by!

Sweet picture, and I really hope your yarn isn't too tangled! As for the teething, oh yes, my oldest teethed early and it was awful. When she gets a little older and starts on foods, we used to get those mess food things, they look like a giant pacifier, and fill it with frozen peaches and frozen mangoes. My boys would gnaw on those and they helped sooo much. For the earlier ones though, you just have to wait it out.

All three of mine started teething at two months, so I understand! Try getting the center of a washcloth wet and freezing it, some babies like the cold! I have had an amber teething necklace for my youngest and he has had *by far* the easiest time with his teeth, and I have other Mama friends who swear by them. Hyland's also makes wonderful teething tablets, that are homeopathic, although I don't find their gel to be as helpful. Good luck!
