Yarn Along

The subtitle of this post should be "disappointment."
Yup, that would be my basket, all my projects pulled off needles and reballed.  Mistakes were made and I do not have the brain power to attempting fixing them right now.  I'm better off starting again.  At a later date.  So for now I'm going to cast on some simple, hopefully easy baby knits.
I'm thinking some booties and hats to go with the BSJs.  I also realize I'm slightly insane making handknits for a July baby.  It is beastly hot and I'm thinking hats???  Well, yes.  Perhaps largely because I think I can finish a couple hats in a couple days and get back to feeling some sense of accomplishment.  (No, that pink and purple is not significant.  I love the yarn and had needed a break for the usual blues I tend toward.  I figured as long as I've hung onto it this long I might as well get it some buttons, make it some accessories, and wait and see.  There's a 50/50 chance of this babe getting to wear it.  Well, maybe less than 50/50, it's rather tiny so we'll have to see if the wee one is really wee enough for it.)

So there's my plan for the day.  Sit in my chair with a fan pointed at me, cast on some baby things, read some Sherlock Holmes, maybe if I'm feeling really ambitious (and the boys are miraculously asleep or out of the apartment) I'll quickly piece together a new curtain for the kitchen window to block to hot evening sun.  Oh, and of course check out the other Yarn Along posts at small things.  It's a nice plan.

Oh I am sorry to see your frogged items. :( But you know, simple and easy knits are a must right now (especially with the heat, I know I lose my concentration).

Hooray for booties and hats! And hey.. it will get cooler.. and unless the wee-one-to-be grows to be a giant by fall, you'll need them sooner than you think!

Frogging for significant mistakes I totally understand. We've all been there. I, on the other hand, am flirting with the idea of frogging half a perfectly good shawl. I have 2 balls of karabella lace merino knit into my first triangle shawls (I tend toward crescents) and 2 balls to go, but I really can't stand the pattern anymore and can't imagine I'll ever wear it. If I hadn't bought the yarn on a special trip and wanted to make something special for me with it, I'd just finish where it is and gift it.

And that's why I cast on something new on Sunday. If you can't beat 'em, hibernate 'em. ;o)

A very nice plan. Sorry about the frogging, but quick knits seem to always cure the disappointment for me.

One of my babies is a July baby so I do know just how you are feeling. Besides a little hat how about a cotton milo vest? Super simple and cool for summer.

Oh please don't be feel disappointed. Frogging happens. It happens form time to time-I think that yarn is just meant to be something else. Reading it's knitting destiny and all that. Think how much fun you will have choosing patterns and you are one up--you know how the yarn knits up! I couldn't think of a better way to escape dissapointment than casting on baby things or maybe a tiny washcloth or 2 :) Little ones always need hats-no matter the season. Best knitting :)

Oh yes, simple knits are all I can do at this season. It's so much easier to focus on and there is the lovely sense of accomplishment when you finish. Enjoy your day.....sounds lovely.

Oh I feel for you, frogging your projects. But baby knits are certainly a way to restore faith in knitting. Have fun choosing out what you are going to knit. Jacinta

I hope it cools off soon so you are comfortable, and then you can knit away without a fan!!

Sorry for all the frogging and yet, I think you're smart. Sometimes to get back that earnest knitting feeling, a little project that you can complete quickly does give you satisfaction and just that little encouragement you need to tackle the harder stuff. Hope you're feeling well the last leg of your pregnancy!

My mom asked about knitting for our summer baby too. I think it works out ok though after all there is air conditioning. A warm hat or a cotton night gown should be a welcome gift for baby. Our sweet boy seems happy with his knits.

I don't believe that there should be colors specifically for boy or girl babies. Babies should be able to wear any color that their parent wants to dress them in.
